I have received several calls today by other investigators, in other areas of the United States. Call varied in nature. I received all the calls, because I am the expert in surveillance.
One call was from a very skilled surveillance investigator that needed advice with a specific surveillance issue. I was glad to assist. I didn't make any money from the call. I may never make a dime as a result of helping the other investigator. I enjoyed the call though very much. Never know perhaps the investigator will remember me, should they ever know of someone needing to hire an investigator in our area.
Another call was from a private investigator seeking advise on marketing their services. Again, I received no money for the call. May never make a dime from the call. I did enjoy the call very much. This investigator is very skilled in there specific area of expertise, and wants to know how to make others aware of that fact. I loved getting to be a help. Never know, this person may return the favor, or may referr business to us in the future.
Third call was from an investigator referring work to us. Always great. Pays the bills. Gives us the oppurtunity to help someone with a matter that is most important to them.
Most would be excited only about the 3rd call. Not me, all three calls was great. The fact that we are the expert in our area is not only financially rewarding, but emotionally rewarding.
So my advice to you:
What ever it is you do, be the best at it. If you can't be the best in that area, then find something you can be the best at and do that. It is worth it to be the expert. It is a great feeling, and it gives you an oppurtunity to make a difference.

Great blog. By helping others be the best they can be you are helping to improve the quality of work we provide as a profession All of our clients are all better off because of it.
