Mr. Sting

Dawn,
I agree with part of your post. I agree that you are a leader. I also agree with your assesment of what a leader is.

I don't agree that all investigators are leaders. I don't even agree that being a leader is necessary in order to be a good investigator.

Sometimes being a good follower. is as important as being a leader. The world needs followers, and leaders. The world possibly needs followers more than it needs leaders.

I also feel that you can be a great leader, and a at the same time a great follower.

A smart leader will follow another leader, but only if the other leader is going in the direction they want to go.

I am also of the mindset that most private investigators are not leaders. Most are not good followers either.

I am proud to not be "most investigators". I am different, and so are you. That is why we are special.

I like the saying:
"lead, follow, or get out of the way"

As a surveillance investigator, I believe that I am "Tulsa's Leading Follower". Also, like to believe that I am "Tulsa's most famous man, that nobody knows"

Of course, all the above are the ramblings of a man that got 2 hours sleep last night. I am off to take a nap. Catch you later.

Keep the Conversation Going!

I love it when someone does not agree with me because that is what makes great conversations. These blog give us food for thought. I know I have not always been a leader but I also know I was a leader just waiting for my chance. An attorney I worked for many years ago saw that potential and gave me that chance. I learned the valuable lesson of being a follower at that time. In order to be the leader I am I was smart enough to step back and follow the leader but he was smart enough to let me lead sometimes when he could not. You are correct you can be both but the fact that we can be both is a testament to a good leader.

Carry on my friend. Keep leading the charge I would gladly follow you into battle should that become necessary but I also take comfort in knowing you would be willing to step back for someone else.

Mr. Sting

Dawn,
You set a great example for me many times. I know sometimes I follow your lead. Other times you follow mine. It is a great give in take. Your blog post was excellent, and I look forward to many more from you.
